Fiesta in honour of
the Virgen del Carmen, the protectress of fishermen, in all coastal towns
including Motril, Torrenueva, Almuñécar, and La Herradura. At dusk, after the
procession around all the streets, the Virgin is taken out to sea on a boat. There
are also fireworks that illuminate the sky over the sea.

Fiesta de Los Guájares
|
The first weekend in
Aug is the start of the festivities for the three villages that make up Los
Guájares. The fiesta starts in Guájar Fondón, moves to Guájar Faragüit and
ends in Guájar Alto on the 16th August.

Day of Assumption, Motril Fiesta,
Almuñécar Fiesta and Feria de Málaga
|
Public holiday in
Andalucía. Week long fiestas in Motril in honour of the town’s patron saint,
Virgen de la Cabeza. There are concerts, fair ground attractions, dances,
sports events, music and a firework display all leading up to the procession
on the 15th. Also in Almuñécar, whose patron saint is Virgen de la
Antigua, there is a week long fiesta culminating on the 15th.
The week long Feria de
Málaga always spans across 15th August.
